PROVINCIAL NOMINATION PROGRAM

PROVINCIAL NOMINATION PROGRAM

Candidates that do not match the basic requirements for a Canadian PR visa.

Applicants who do not get a sufficient score (CRS) will be invited to participate in the Express Entry Pool to advance to the final round. The PNP programme in Canada lets provinces to choose the immigrants they require for their provinces or territories. It also provides candidates with the option of becoming permanent residents.

  • You have a better chance of receiving an Invitation to Apply if you have a qualified Provincial nomination (ITA).
  • You can apply for a Permanent Residency visa after you get the ITA.

Provincial Nominee Program Processing Times

The length of time it takes for an application to be processed under Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs is primarily determined by whether it was filed through an Express Entry-connected PNP stream or one of the other streams not linked to Express Entry.

Applicants can anticipate a processing time for their first application to the province, as well as a second processing time for their ultimate application to the federal government for permanent residency. The majority of provinces have reduced processing times to a few months, if not weeks. The government processing period for Express Entry-linked applications continues at six months for the majority of applications. At the federal level, non-Express Entry connected applications, often known as paper-based applications, typically take 1-2 years to process.

How can I submit an application for the Provincial Nominee Program?

The federal government, not the provincial government, makes all final immigration decisions in Canada.

As a result, PNPs are a two-step procedure. To begin, you must submit an application to the province for a provincial nomination. Then, if the province approves your application, you must apply for Canadian permanent resident status with the federal government.

To apply for your preferred PNP, follow these step-by-step instructions:

  • Fill up an application and send it to the province or territory.
  • If your application is complete and you are eligible, you will obtain an official Provincial Nomination certificate, which will allow you to proceed to the next phase.
  • Submit your application for permanent residence:
  • To become a permanent resident of Canada, you must apply to the federal government. You can apply using Express Entry if you were nominated through an Express Entry-aligned PNP. Otherwise, you’ll have to fill out a paper application.

Some PNP streams are first-come, first-served, while others need potential candidates to fill out an Expression of Interest form beforehand. Furthermore, although certain PNP streams function independently of the federal Express Entry immigration system (called as “base” streams), others are coordinated with Express Entry.
